Link Fault Pass Through (LFPT)
Link Fault Pass Through (LFPT) is a network feature commonly used in media converters, Ethernet extenders, and managed switches to enhance network reliability and simplify troubleshooting. It ensures that faults on one side of a network link are propagated to the other side, allowing connected devices to detect and respond to link failures more effectively.
Automatically Switching Between Switch Mode and Converter Mode
The EL8315 supports both Switch Mode and Converter Mode to meet various user needs. In Switch Mode, it uses a store-and-forward architecture, forwarding packets only after the entire frame is received and verified to be error-free. In Converter Mode, it forwards packets immediately without CRC checking to minimize latency. If the port speeds differ, the device automatically switches to store-and-forward mode to ensure proper packet handling.
Power delivery reset (PDRST)
PoE equipment, such as IP cameras and wireless access points, is often deployed in remote or hard-to-access locations. Occasionally, these devices may encounter issues that can be resolved with a simple power cycle (power off and on). However, due to their isolated placement, performing a manual reboot can be challenging and inefficient.
To address this, the PDRST (Power Device Reset) function can be enabled via a DIP switch. When a PoE device anomaly is detected, users can simply reinsert the SFP module to trigger an automatic remote reboot of the powered device (PD), eliminating the need for on-site intervention. This feature significantly reduces labor costs and enhances maintenance efficiency.
