Ethernet Switch Types

With a wide variety of Ethernet switch options, EtherWAN has the purpose-built switch for your application. From rugged hardened and industrial switches to reliable commercial (enterprise-grade) options, you have the right options to install nearly anywhere. EtherWAN offers these products with a variety of functionality:

Unmanaged switches
are plug and play devices most commonly used in smaller networks and for specific applications. They often have basic features such as broadcast storm protection and alarms for power and link failure, but no methods for remote management.

Web-smart switches
offer access to basic switch management features such as IP configuration, Quality of Service (QoS), VLANs and trunking through a web-based graphical user interface (GUI).

Managed switches
offer a broad set of features that allow for remote configuration and troubleshooting of the device. Management can be via serial console, Telnet or Secure Shell. Some managed switches now have Layer 3 features such as static routes, RIP V1/V2, and VRRP. Manages switches generally have greater and more customizable security features such as RADIUS, TACACS+, and AAA.

EtherWAN's abundant product options include a wide range of speeds, including fast Ethernet (10/100 Mbps), gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbps), and ten Gigabit (10/100/1000/10000 Mbps). Installation options include desktop, DIN-rail, and rack-mount. Additionally, a robust line of Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches, including industry-highest 60 watt Ultra PoE, allow for connectivity with and powering of remote devices such as IP cameras and wireless access points. SFP options allow for fiber connections, ideal for long distance, high-speed transfer.

From industrial automation, security, transportation & rail systems, power generation, water treatment, and general manufacturing plants, to remote surveillance locations, EtherWAN equipment delivers the performance and reliability needed.
